Anticipatory Set/ The Low Google Diet!
To prepare you for college and careers, we try to mimic the availability of resources you will encounter when not in the "workplace", in this case school. You have the luxury of being able to access research materials provided by our school library on-line, from the comfort of your home computer. Gone are the days of trudging across a campus in the middle of dark cold nights to gather research. Electronic databases are the "norm" in most high schools and colleges across the country. Periodicals used for research, like the New York Times and Time magazine, are now accessible in these electronic databases. This exercise will familiarize you with accessing our library databases on-line, how to search a variety of subjects, and familiarize you with tracking information you will need to give credit to sources you use. It is crucial that you give credit to "borrowed" information to avoid plagiarizing. |
