Carol S. Dweck (born October 17, 1946) is the Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology at Stanford University. She graduated from Barnard College in 1967 and earned a Ph.D. from Yale University in 1972. She taught at Columbia University, Harvard University, and the University of Illinois before joining the Stanford faculty in 2004. Professor Dweck has primary research interests in motivation, personality, and development. She teaches courses in Personality and Social Development as well as Motivation. Her key contribution to social psychology relates to implicit theories of intelligence.
This is an auditory learner exercise.Taking notes and listening are an important skill set for success in school. Some professors in HS and college provide some of their lectures online for students that were absent. Students that were present also have the ability to review the lecture. You have the ability in this exercise to stop and repeat parts of the lecture in order to take good notes. This makes it a viable exercise even for those whose auditory learning style is their weakness.

Take notes by creating a 2 column chart about the characteristics and finding regarding each type of learner. This is an auditory learner exercise. The beauty of an online podcast, like some professors in college and HS provide, is that you can start and stop the lecture as needed and go back to parts you would like to hear again in order to take good notes. You may also word process an 8 sentence MLA formatted formal writing paragraph for as a second option for additional credit. The paragraph will be about which approach you have tended to subscribe to up to this point in your life. Give specific examples that give evidence to support what you say and explain how these have helped or hindered you as a leaner. Conclude with the value of going forward with a growth mindset and how it will prepare you for college and/ or a career. Be sure to reference Dweck's thoughts as you write. The 1st person "no-no" rule is waived for this formal writing assignment. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to be reflective and reaffirm or change your thinking about the learning process.
